About Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor is a historic village on eastern Long Island, split between the towns of Southampton and East Hampton. Settled by English colonists sometime between 1707 and 1730, it became a major whaling port and still has one of the most distinctive village centers in the Hamptons. The entire business district is listed as historic, and the Sag Harbor Union Free School District serves the village. Sag Harbor feels maritime, literary, and old by Long Island resort standards, with harbor streets that still matter more than beach branding.
