About Salem

Salem is a Utah County city northeast of Payson, near the southern end of the Provo-Orem metro area. The place was once known as Summer Spring by Native people and Pond Town by early settlers, a name that still fits the city's relationship to water and open land. Public schools are part of the Nebo School District, and the community has grown with the rest of southern Utah County. Salem feels quieter than Provo or Spanish Fork, but firmly tied to the valley's rapid growth.
