About Sanborn

Sanborn is a city in Redwood County, Minnesota, United States. The 2020 census counted 323 residents. Sanborn was platted in 1881 and incorporated November 17, 1891. Sanborn was named in honor of Sherburn Sanborn, who for many years was an officer of the Chicago and Northwestern railway company. That mix gives Sanborn a clear local shape within Minnesota, with older layers still visible in current places. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. The Cottonwood River flows through the city. U.S. Highway 71 runs along the eastern edge of Sanborn, a short distance south of its intersection with U.S. Highway 14. Sanborn includes the Cottonwood River.
