About Sandy
Sandy is a Clackamas County city in the foothills of the Cascade Range, southeast of Portland and on the way to Mount Hood. Its history is tied to the Oregon Trail: Sam Barlow passed through the area in 1845 and created Barlow Road, the heavily used final overland route around Mount Hood. Today Sandy is both a commuter town and a gateway to mountain recreation. It feels practical and outdoorsy at once, with Portland access in one direction and forests, rivers, and snow country in the other.
