Sandyville, OH

Sandyville is a quiet, small community in northern Tuscarawas County with an unusual backstory. Originally settled along Sandy Creek in 1815, the entire town was physically picked up and moved uphill in the late 1930s to avoid flooding from a regional dam project. Around thirty homes, the local businesses, and the town hall all made the trip up the hill together. Today, it sits on that higher ground along State Route 800, giving residents a peaceful rural setting within an easy drive of Canton and New Philadelphia.
