Mineral springs remain part of Saratoga Springs' public landscape rather than only its history or name. Saratoga Spa State Park, a National Historic Landmark, contains naturally spouting springs, 12 miles of forested trails, and the Creekside Classroom beside Geyser Creek. Its year-round mix includes hiking, biking, disc golf, golf, fishing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and a farmers market. Swimming is seasonal, but the options expanded in June 2026 when a $3.6 million renovation reopened the Peerless Pool children's area with a zero-entry pool, spray features, gardens, gazebos, refurbished slides, and a plunge pool. The complex also has an Olympic-size pool, while the separate Victoria Pool occupies the historic spa setting. Summer changes the city's event calendar as well. Saratoga Race Course scheduled 51 racing days for 2026, including a five-day Belmont Stakes Festival and a 46-day summer meet.

That is an exceptional schedule tied to construction at Belmont Park, not a permanent baseline: NYRA says Saratoga will return to its traditional 40-day meet in 2027. At the performing arts center inside the state park, the 2026 season marked SPAC's 60th anniversary with New York City Ballet's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the work that opened the venue in 1966, plus Philadelphia Orchestra programs and other events. Away from those large seasonal institutions, the downtown public library's current calendar includes beginning English classes, children's activities, films, handcraft groups, teen programs, talks, and fitness sessions. It also provides literacy help, public meeting rooms, a children's room, and a teen room.
