About Schaefferstown

Schaefferstown is a Lebanon County CDP and Heidelberg Township’s main town, one of those Pennsylvania places where old infrastructure is still part of the town’s daily vocabulary. Fountain Park grew around Alexander Schaeffer’s gravity-fed water system, built in the 1740s or 1750s, and the pipes still supply household water. Historic Schaefferstown, founded in 1966, keeps the Pennsylvania German story visible through the Brendle Museum, Schaeffer House and Farm, Gemberling-Rex House, tours, and events. The community drains toward Hammer Creek and Cocalico Creek. Schaefferstown is old Lebanon County with a spring, a water system, and a museum map.
