About Scio

Scio is a village in North Township, Harrison County, Ohio, United States. The 2020 census counted 673 residents. Scio was originally called New Market, and under the latter name was platted in 1852. Scio is the midpoint of the multi-use rails-to-trails path, the Conotton Creek Trail. Scio is paved and wheelchair accessible, and is also suitable for bicycling, rollerblading, and walking. From 1877 or 1878 to 1911 the Scio College was in the town, until it merged with Mount Union College and the Scio campus closed.
