Seco Mines, TX

Seco Mines is a small, quiet community located just north of Eagle Pass in Maverick County along U.S. Route 277. Home to around 570 residents, the area began in the early 1900s as a coal mining settlement called Dolchburg, which once housed hundreds of workers supporting the local mines. After mining operations ended, the settlement steadily shifted from an industrial outpost into a close-knit, relaxed residential neighborhood.

Today, the community offers a calm pace of life while keeping residents within minutes of the stores, schools, and medical services in Eagle Pass. The neighborhood stays connected through local spots like the Seco Mines Community Center on Sanchez Avenue, which hosts youth sports, family events, and county activities throughout the year. It remains a straightforward, welcoming place to settle down near the border.
