Suffolk County Community College's Ammerman Campus gives Selden a daily role that extends well beyond its residential streets. The 156-acre campus contains 17 academic, administrative, and support buildings, including a life-sciences building, theater, art gallery, library, gymnasium, athletic fields, and a child-care center serving children from six weeks through age five when classes are in session. College productions and exhibitions also reach the wider community: the spring 2026 schedule included plays, a high-school art exhibition, and free public orchestra, choir, jazz, and band concerts.
