Sequoyah, OK

Sequoyah is a small census-designated place in Rogers County near Claremore. The 2020 census counted 730 residents. Sequoyah Public Schools is the community’s clearest institution, with elementary, middle, and high school programs at its campus on South 4180 Road. The campus also gives the surrounding rural area a common meeting point each week. School events keep that connection active. Claremore supplies broader shopping, healthcare, county government, and employment, while the CDP itself is a rural, unincorporated part of the Rogers County school and road network.

The name points to Sequoyah, the Cherokee scholar who created the Cherokee syllabary, and the school district’s history reaches back more than a century.
