About Shady Hollow
Shady Hollow is a southwestern Travis County community about 10 miles from downtown Austin, partly within Austin's city limits. It began as a planned suburban development, and residents organized the Shady Hollow Homeowners Corporation in 1978 during disputes over how the community was being marketed and built. Today it is a residential Austin-area suburb with established neighborhoods, local parks, and Austin Independent School District schools. The appeal is straightforward: a quieter southwest setting with access to Austin jobs, shopping, and Hill Country edges.
