Sherman, MS

Sherman is a quiet, close-knit community of about 600 residents tucked just northwest of Tupelo. One of the town's most interesting quirks is its geography: the municipal borders actually stretch across three different counties, with most residents living in Pontotoc County and smaller sections extending into Lee and Union counties. Originally established as a railroad stop in the late 1800s, Sherman has held onto its peaceful rural charm while growing into a convenient bedroom community for families and commuters working across northeast Mississippi.

Living here offers a calm, spread-out feel where homes, local churches, and open land define the landscape. Because of the three-county split, school zoning depends on which side of the county line your house sits on, with the majority zoned for Pontotoc County schools. Location is one of the biggest perks for newcomers. Sitting right along Interstate 22 and Highway 178, Sherman gives you an easy ten-minute drive to Tupelo’s shopping, dining, and healthcare, as well as quick access to major regional employers like the Toyota plant in nearby Blue Springs.
