The borough is named after Shickshinny Creek, which runs through the municipality and the surrounding area. George P. The local scoop is a place whose streets, landmarks, and institutions keep its earlier story close to the present. In 1773, Nathan Beach, also from Connecticut, settled outside of modern-day Shickshinny. The area was named Beach Haven after him. Shickshinny is situated along the western bank of the Susquehanna River at the mouth of Shickshinny Creek.
