Shiloh, GA

Shiloh is a small Harris County city in west-central Georgia, set along Alternate U.S. 27 and close to the routes toward Warm Springs, Hamilton, Columbus, and Manchester. A post office opened here in 1874, taking the name of Shiloh Baptist Church. The surrounding Piedmont is a mix of wooded hills, pasture, old farmsteads, and scattered homes, with the road corridor doing most of the connecting.

The railroad once gave Shiloh another line of movement, and its abandoned rail property now serves as a pedestrian trail and park. Georgia State Routes 85 and 116 meet the Alternate U.S. 27 corridor, while the town's older churches and homes keep the nineteenth-century settlement visible. Harris County's larger services and Columbus's metro area are within reach, but Shiloh remains a place organized around local roads, church history, and the rolling countryside between the Chattahoochee Valley and Warm Springs. Local festivals and church gatherings keep the center tied to its surrounding farms and nearby mountain roads.
