Sierra Blanca, TX

Sierra Blanca is a tiny, quiet West Texas town that serves as the seat of sprawling Hudspeth County. Located in the high desert along Interstate 10, it sits about 85 miles southeast of El Paso beneath the backdrop of Sierra Blanca Mountain. The town got its start in 1881 when two major rail lines met in the desert, and today it remains an unhurried community for people who value wide-open spaces, starry skies, and true remote living.

Day-to-day life in town centers on county business and the local school district, which serves neighborhood students from pre-K through graduation. The centerpiece of the community is the historic Hudspeth County Courthouse, known for being the only adobe courthouse in Texas. While residents head down the highway to El Paso or Van Horn for major shopping runs and specialized healthcare, Sierra Blanca provides a peaceful, slow-paced home base surrounded by rugged desert peaks.
