About Silkworth

Silkworth is a Lehman Township CDP along PA 29 on the west shore of Lake Silkworth, about ten miles northwest of Nanticoke. The lake is the first thing that gives the community its shape: roads and homes gather around the water, while the Back Mountain's wooded ridges and small valleys spread out behind them. The setting is Luzerne County lake country, close enough to Wilkes-Barre and Nanticoke for errands but far from a conventional city grid. Lake Silkworth also gives the town its shorthand for directions.

Lake-Lehman School District carries the school connection, and the Lake Silkworth Volunteer Fire Department gives the community its own emergency-service presence. Lehman Township's recreation planning links Lake Silkworth with Moon Lake Park and Lackawanna State Forest, so the local outdoor map extends beyond the shoreline. Fishing, shoreline access, township roads, and school events make this a place people know by water as much as by street address. Silkworth is a small lake community whose geography does the introductions before any sign does.
