Silverton, ID

Silverton is an unincorporated community and census-designated place on the north side of the South Fork Coeur d'Alene River in Shoshone County's Silver Valley. It sits near the older mining corridor between Osburn and Wallace, with the river valley and mountain roads doing most of the orienting. Shoshone County describes mining as the region's best-known industry and timber as an older part of its mountain economy. Silverton also appears in Idaho fire history as the location of the Devil's Broom, or Great Fire of 1910.
