Skidaway Island, GA

Skidaway Island is a Chatham County census-designated place on a barrier island southeast of Savannah. It is known for waterfront properties and planned residential communities, but its history reaches much farther back: archaeological sites on the island have been identified as possible shell rings, built by Indigenous peoples along the coast. The island setting gives the community a Lowcountry character, with marshes, waterways, maritime forest, and access to Savannah nearby. Skidaway Island feels residential and private, but deeply tied to Georgia's coastal landscape.
