Sleetmute, AK

Sleetmute is a quiet remote village in southwest Alaska, situated where the Holitna and Kuskokwim rivers meet. With fewer than a hundred residents, it is a tight-knit community surrounded by vast wilderness and rich fishing waters. Everyday life centers around the river, subsistence traditions, and the local Jack Egnaty Sr. School. Because the village is off the road system, getting in and out means catching a bush plane or traveling by boat during the warmer months.
