About Smiths Grove
Smiths Grove is a home-rule city in Warren County, inside the Bowling Green metropolitan area but still shaped by its own Main Street and school history. In 1913, the Warren Baptist Academy, Smiths Grove Institute, and a free school joined to form one of the county’s early high schools. North Warren Elementary remains in town, while Warren East Middle and High Schools serve older students nearby. That education network gives Smiths Grove a role in the rural communities between Bowling Green and the county’s farm country.
Ed Spear Park sits a block off Highway 101 and grew from land donated to the city in 1969 before the city transferred it to Warren County for development. The 17-acre park now has fields, courts, playgrounds, picnic shelters, a storm shelter, and a trail. City ordinances, water and sewer arrangements, churches, shops, and local roads fill in the practical side of life. Smiths Grove’s metropolitan connections are close at hand, but the city still runs on school schedules, park leagues, Main Street errands, and the relationships built around them.
