Sneads, FL

Sneads is a Jackson County town on the southeast shore of Lake Seminole, where the Florida Panhandle meets the Apalachicola River and the reservoir opens the map eastward. The town was organized on October 26, 1894, and named for Dr. Walter Robert Snead, a local dentist remembered for his work in the area. Today the town's landscape is built around water and woods: Sneads Park sits at Lake Seminole, while fishing, boating, hunting, pine, oak, farms, and ponds shape the surrounding country. Sneads Elementary and Sneads High keep the school identity local. It is the easternmost town in Jackson County and a useful gateway to the reservoir.
