About Sodus Point

Sodus Point is a Wayne County village on the Lake Ontario shore, set on the northwest edge of Sodus Bay. The area’s first documented European-American settlement was here in 1794, and the harbor later became a working port with breakwaters, customs activity, and lake traffic. The 1871 Sodus Bay Lighthouse now holds a maritime museum. Sodus Point is the Finger Lakes’ Great Lakes outpost: a narrow point, a broad bay behind it, and Lake Ontario opening straight ahead.
