Solsberry, IN

Solsberry is a Greene County census-designated place in southern Indiana, set among rolling hills and wooded roads in Beech Creek Township. A post office was established in 1851, and the town's name has more than one local story behind it, including a possible connection to Salisbury and another to early settler Solomon Wilkerson. Either way, the name belongs to a small community whose map is more woods and hillside than grid. The big local landmark is Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, set deep in the forest south of town.

Founded in 2002, Sculpture Trails displays more than 180 large-scale sculptures along wooded paths and pairs the artwork with hands-on workshops and art education. Greene County's roads bring visitors from Spencer and other small communities into the Solsberry hills, while the post office and cemetery keep the older settlement visible. Solsberry's character comes from the meeting of two timelines: a nineteenth-century crossroads and a contemporary outdoor art place spread through the trees.
