South Alamo, TX

South Alamo is a Hidalgo County census-designated place in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, within the Donna Independent School District and the wider McAllen–Edinburg–Mission metro area. The community is also known locally as “Little Mex,” a nickname that gives this small place a strong regional shorthand. It covers about two square miles, all land, and sits in the Alamo–Donna part of South Texas. South Alamo is a compact CDP whose map is mostly school district, neighboring cities, and border-valley geography.
