South Glastonbury, MT

South Glastonbury is a Park County census-designated place in Paradise Valley, south of Livingston and north of Yellowstone country. The community is one of the Glastonbury areas near Emigrant, set between the Yellowstone River valley and the Rocky Mountain foothills. Park County's wider history reaches from Crow homelands and nineteenth-century trapping to the gold rush at Emigrant Gulch and the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railroad in the 1880s.

The modern community took shape in the 1980s when Church Universal and Triumphant purchased and subdivided ranch land in the area. Later legal changes allowed more individual land ownership, and the Glastonbury Landowners Association now maintains a local framework for the area. South Glastonbury's physical map is mostly large rural parcels, roads, open valley land, and mountain views. Arrowhead Elementary School District and Park High School District, part of Livingston Public Schools, connect the CDP to the county's school system. The valley setting does most of the local orienting, with Livingston, Emigrant, the Yellowstone River, and the mountain ranges supplying the surrounding reference points.
