South Huntington is a hamlet and census-designated place within the Town of Huntington on Long Island. It is an affluent residential area in Suffolk County, close to Huntington village, Walt Whitman Shops, local schools, and major North Shore commuting routes. St. Anthony's High School is one of its better-known institutions. South Huntington does not operate like a separate city with a single downtown; it is more a suburban community woven into Huntington's larger civic and commercial life.
