South Point, TX

South Point occupies a memorable corner of Cameron County: a small community near the southern end of Texas, where the Rio Grande bends along the border south of Brownsville. The 2020 count was 1,014, and the community lies in the Brownsville-Harlingen metro area, about nine miles east of Brownsville. Farm Road 1419 provides the main local route, while the surrounding land mixes homes, working fields, and the river’s broad border landscape. The curve of the Rio Grande here contains the southernmost point of Texas, giving the place an unusually precise geographic story.

Families are part of Brownsville ISD, with South Texas ISD magnet schools also serving the region.
