Southwest Greensburg, PA

Tucked right beside Greensburg, Southwest Greensburg is a cozy borough where roughly 2,200 neighbors share a handful of walkable residential blocks. Long before it developed into a quiet neighborhood, the area had a quirky start. Its first recorded settler jokingly told officials to name the land "What You Please," an offhand nickname that locals used for decades. In the late 1880s, developers laid out neat rows of home lots across the old farmland, officially turning the small settlement into a distinct borough in 1890.

The community grew quickly as streetcars began running down Greene Street, linking residents directly to surrounding towns. Those vintage trolleys are long gone, but the borough still keeps its friendly, front-porch character. On any given weekend, you will find neighbors gathering at Red Devil's Field for youth sports, supporting events at the volunteer fire department, or walking over to the playground at Amos K. Hutchinson Elementary. It is a peaceful, tight-knit enclave that gives you easy access to everything in greater Greensburg without sacrificing a small-town feel.
