About Spencer
Spencer is a Medina County village in Spencer Township, with 684 residents in the 2020 census. A post office has operated here since 1849, and the village takes its name from the township. At the four corners of the one-light center, a bank, tire shop, grocery market, restaurant, and other small businesses give the main crossroads a practical shape. Four churches stand at the village entrances, so the road into town quickly becomes a tour of local institutions.
Spencer's parks add room for the parts of community life that do not fit on Main Street. Veterans Memorial Community Park, known locally as Rocket Park, carries the memorial side of town, while J.B. Firestone Park offers walking trails, basketball and tennis courts, a playground, pavilions, and ball fields. The village also has a post office, funeral home, shops, feed store, and volunteer-minded businesses for residents across the area. Spencer is small, but its crossroads, churches, and parks give the village a clear center.
