Spring Lake, UT

Spring Lake is a small Utah County town just south of Payson and northeast of Santaquin, with the lake of the same name at its center. The 2020 census counted 528 residents. Mormon settlers built the first adobe home here in 1859, and the town's most distinctive historical connection is Antonga Black Hawk, the Ute leader who was born nearby and buried in Spring Lake in 1870. The lake is only a few feet deep under normal conditions and was drained in 2006 for dredging, a reminder that the named water body is also a managed part of town.

The community has a new civic chapter: residents voted to incorporate Spring Lake in November 2024, and the town now works through council and planning meetings, budgets, and a general plan. Payson and Santaquin supply the larger regional map, while Spring Lake keeps its own name, lake, and Black Hawk memorial history.
