About Spring Valley
Spring Valley is a Fillmore County city in southeast Minnesota, where prairie country meets the bluffs and U.S. 63 meets Minnesota 16. The 2020 census counted 2,447 residents. The town was laid out in 1855 around a spring, and the post office has been part of the place since that year. Its location makes it a natural first stop north of Iowa on Highway 63 and a southern gateway to the Bluff Country. On the wider map, the city sits between farm country, cave country, and the bluff roads that make southeast Minnesota distinctive.
Route 63 brings the through-traffic, but the local map leans toward the old spring, the Fillmore County History Center, and nearby Mystery Cave. Rochester sits to the north, while Highway 16 carries the east-west errands toward the Mississippi River country. Spring Valley's local scoop is a Minnesota city with a spring at its origin, two highways at its shoulders, and limestone-bluff country waiting just beyond town.
