About Spurgeon

Spurgeon is a town in Monroe Township, Pike County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. The 2020 census counted 172 residents. Spurgeon is part of the Jasper Micropolitan Statistical Area. Spurgeon was originally called Pleasantville, and under the latter name was laid out in 1860. Prior to 1966, it had its own high school. That mix gives Spurgeon a clear local shape within Indiana, with older layers still visible in current places.
