About St. Charles
St. Charles is a Saginaw County village set at the northwest corner of St. Charles Township, with smaller pieces reaching into Brant and Swan Creek townships. The Bad River flows right through the village, a detail that helped shape its early lumber-and-railroad map. A rail line once connected the settlement to the wider Saginaw region, and the river later became a fishing and recreation point. St. Charles is mid-Michigan in a compact arrangement: three township lines, one river, and a village gathered around both.
