St. Libory, IL

St. Libory is a St. Clair County village with 628 residents in the 2020 census, occupying less than a square mile near the eastern side of the county. The village's name comes from St. Liborius, the patron saint of the Catholic parish established here in 1838. That parish gave the community its clearest early institution, with a church and school organizing local life as German-speaking and other immigrant families settled the surrounding farm country.
