St. Maries is a city and the county seat of Benewah County, Idaho, situated at the confluence of the St. Joe and St. Maries rivers. Developed around a sawmill founded in 1889 by Joseph Fisher, the lumber-producing community of approximately 2,915 is served by the St. Maries Joint School District locally.
