Staatsburg, NY

Staatsburg is a hamlet and census-designated place in the northwest corner of Hyde Park, with the Hudson River forming its western edge. Its setting sits inside the long Hudson Valley story of land patents, river travel, estates, farms, and ice harvesting. The hamlet’s most recognizable landmark is Staatsburgh State Historic Site, the former country home of Ogden and Ruth Livingston Mills. Their 1890s remodeling turned an earlier house into a 65-room Beaux-Arts mansion, and the family estate was given to New York State in 1938.

Mills Norrie State Park extends the local map along the Hudson with trails, camping, boating, cross-country skiing, and views across the river toward the Catskills.
