About Star City

Near the center of Lincoln County, Star City was chosen as the county seat and incorporated in 1876, between the Arkansas Delta and the Arkansas Timberlands. Agriculture shaped the older economy, and manufacturing now sits alongside the fields and county offices. The courthouse, Star City Commercial Historic District, and local schools give the city a compact civic map: Jimmy Brown Elementary, Star City Middle, and Star City High are all part of the Star City School District, while the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library operates a Star City branch. Monticello lies to the southeast and Pine Bluff to the northwest, placing Star City on a south-central Arkansas road corridor. The town also has a movie footnote: One False Move used Star City as its setting in 1992, with only limited filming there. Farm country, schools, courthouse, library, and a film connection all meet in this Lincoln County city.
