About Steubenville

Steubenville is a city and the county seat of Jefferson County, Ohio, situated along the Ohio River on the state's eastern border. Part of the Weirton-Steubenville metropolitan area, the city of approximately 18,100 developed around the site of Fort Steuben, a 1786 military outpost named in honor of Prussian officer Baron Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben. Known as the City of Murals for its more than twenty-five downtown wall paintings, the community is home to the Franciscan University of Steubenville.
