About Stockton

Stockton is a Winona County city laid out in 1856 in the Rollingstone valley, where the creek that enters town was later renamed Garvin Brook after Winona mill founder H.C. Garvin. The city’s local history page says J.B. Stockton owned half the town property and supplied the name, while Garvin donated land west of town for Farmers’ Community Park. U.S. 14 runs through the present-day city, with walking-trail maps, water notices, and road work all part of the current civic picture. Stockton is southeast Minnesota with a creek valley, a borrowed founder’s name, and a park tied to the region’s milling history.
