Stockton, UT

Stockton is a Tooele County town seven miles south of Tooele City, set in the foothills of the Oquirrh Mountains and within the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Soldiers and miners settled the town in the mid-1800s, and the first mining boom shaped its streets, work, and name. Mining has since receded, leaving Stockton with a town government, utilities, council meetings, and a modern residential role tied to Tooele Valley. Town Hall and the town's utility system keep local government close to the mountain road.

The old mining story remains visible in the town's historic landscape and local history, while everyday civic business runs through Town Hall on North Johnson Street and the town's events calendar. Stockton's position between Tooele and the Oquirrhs gives it a clear physical frame: a former mining center at the foot of the mountains, now linked to the larger Salt Lake region by valley roads and regional services. Today, the mine sites, mountain foothills, and Town Hall still give the town its recognizable shape.
