Utah State University maintains a regional campus in town alongside Tooele Technical College, giving residents convenient options for higher education and hands-on career training. Even so, many people commute over the hill to Salt Lake County for work. State Route 36 serves as the primary route north to Interstate 80, keeping average drive times around thirty minutes outside of peak rush hours. Express bus routes also link the valley directly to downtown Salt Lake City, offering a practical alternative when winter weather makes the highway slow.

Day-to-day life has a relaxed, small-town rhythm with plenty to do close to home. Main Street is lined with local diners, shops, and civic buildings, while spots like the Pratt Aquatic Center, Oquirrh Hills Golf Course, and England Acres Park give families plenty of weekend recreation. If you love the outdoors, trailheads into Settlement Canyon and the Oquirrh foothills are only a few minutes from most front doors. The community comes together throughout the year for traditions like the annual Fourth of July festival, featuring a hometown parade, concerts, and rodeo events. It makes Tooele an appealing landing spot for anyone who wants mountain views, affordable living, and a grounded community feel.
