About Stoughton
Stoughton is a Dane County city on the Yahara River, southeast of Madison. Founded in 1847 by Luke Stoughton, it is best known for its Norwegian heritage, especially the citywide Syttende Mai celebration each spring. Stoughton also claims a cheerful place in workplace folklore through its Coffee Break Festival, which celebrates the local story of the coffee break's origins. It feels like a small Wisconsin city with more tradition than its size suggests: riverfront, historic buildings, schools, and Madison close by.
