Stover, MO

Stover is a city in western Morgan County where Missouri Routes 52 and 135 meet. The intersection puts Versailles seven miles east and Cole Camp eleven miles west, while the surrounding land drains toward the Lamine River and then the Missouri. A post office has carried Stover's name since 1875, when the community took the name of Missouri congressman John Hubler Stover. The St. Louis–Kansas City–Colorado Railroad later pulled commerce and residents toward its route, helping establish the town's present shape.

Current Stover life runs through Morgan County R-I, whose Bulldogs campus sits on Oak Street, and the Morgan County Library. City Park and the two state highways host community gatherings; the chamber's parade route starts at the school, crosses Highway 52, and passes through the park before returning toward Highway 135. Local listings include the Stover General Store, Stover Milling, restaurants, and Dale Hollow Winery. School, civic services, commerce, and transportation all meet within the same small Morgan County center.
