Sudlersville, MD

Sudlersville is a small Queen Anne's County town in Maryland's far northeastern corner, with Maryland Route 837 threading its center and linking Maryland 300 to Maryland 313. The 2020 census counted 507 residents. Farms and tree lines surround the town, while the short connector route gives trucks and local traffic a way around the tight central intersection. Sudlersville is best known as the hometown of Baseball Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx, who was born here in 1907, and astronomer-mathematician Simon Newcomb.

Sudlersville incorporated in 1870. St. Andrew's Episcopal Chapel sits on the town's historic landscape, and Dudley's Chapel stands just outside town. The Sudlersville Train Station Museum keeps the railroad era in view, while the Sudlersville Memorial Library has served the north end of Queen Anne's County for generations. A baseball statue, old churches, farm roads, and the little state-route junction give Sudlersville a recognizable shape. It is a place where a major ballplayer's childhood, a mathematician's birthplace, and an Eastern Shore town grid all meet.
