About Suisun City
Suisun City sits beside the 84,000-acre Suisun Marsh, the largest contiguous estuarine marsh remaining on North America’s West Coast. Established in the 1850s, the Solano County city became a commerce and transportation point during the Gold Rush. The California Pacific Railroad connected it with Sacramento in 1868–69, and a later transcontinental route crossed the marsh to Suisun City after traveling by rail ferry between Port Costa and Benicia. Its population was 29,518 at the 2020 census.
