Sullivan's Island, SC

Sullivan's Island is a small barrier-island town at the entrance to Charleston Harbor. It has beaches and expensive coastal homes, but its history is just as central: Fort Moultrie is part of the National Park system, and the island was also the site of a quarantine station connected to the forced arrival of enslaved Africans. The town sits between the Atlantic Ocean and Charleston's harbor approach, giving it a rare combination of seaside residential, military history, and direct connection to the Charleston region.
