About Sunbrook
Sunbrook is a census-designated place in the eastern part of Allegheny Township, in southwestern Blair County. It was first listed as a CDP before the 2020 census and sits between several better-known local landmarks: Duncansville to the south, Interstate 99 to the east, U.S. Route 22 to the west, and the highway interchange at Exit 28 to the north. Hollidaysburg, the county seat, is about four miles east by road, while Altoona is about seven miles north.
The place is best understood through that web of roads and neighboring communities. Sunbrook belongs to a township whose history also includes Duncansville, Hollidaysburg, and other small settlements, but its present-day map is shaped by the highways that bracket it. Local trips can head toward the county seat, Altoona, or the larger routes across Blair County within minutes. Sunbrook has the feel of a crossroads neighborhood with a formal census boundary: its name marks a community, while the roads around it connect residents to the larger valley.
