About Sunrise Beach

Sunrise Beach is a village spread across Camden and Morgan counties along the north side of the Lake of the Ozarks. The 2020 census counted 431 residents. A post office has operated here since 1932, and the village took its name from its position near the lake. Missouri Route 5 runs through the community, linking it with Laurie and Versailles to the north and Camdenton to the south. Homes and businesses sit on a narrow neck of land bordered by coves and lake water.

Hurricane Deck Elementary School and Lake Christian Academy give the village an everyday center, while marinas, vacation homes, and lake businesses shape the seasonal economy. The village's 2008 comprehensive plan described Highway 5 and Route F as a commercial hub on the lake's west side. Residents move between two counties but share the same road-and-water geography. Sunrise Beach is a lake village in the most literal sense: the highway carries the traffic, the coves set the boundaries, and the school grounds provide a local gathering point.
