About Sussex

Sussex is a Waukesha County village founded in 1843 by George Elliott, a bricklayer from East Sussex, and Richard Cooling, a blacksmith from Dorset. That English-settlement origin still shows in the name, but modern Sussex is a growing Milwaukee-area suburb with a strong business base. Quad/Graphics is headquartered here, and the Hamilton School District serves local students across multiple school levels.
